Choir & Orchestra in concert at The Theatre Mall of the Emirates, Wednesday 7 December

Dubai Singers will present Messiah, the stunning musical extravaganza by George Frideric Handel, with its famous Hallelujah chorus, at The Theatre Mall of the Emirates on Wednesday 7 December 2022 at 7.30pm.

Conducted by Musical Director Jennie Lee-Foster, some 65 singers will perform the three-part oratorio, accompanied by a 20-piece orchestra.
Messiah will feature four professional soloists – Soprano Amelia Whiteman, Tenor Paul Bester, Mezzo-soprano Feryal Qudourah and Bass Christopher Sheldrake.

Dubai Singers’ Honorary President Paul Griffiths will accompany the orchestra and choir on bass continuo organ.

Dubai Singers Chairperson, Carolyn Belsey Morton, said: “The Dubai Singers group has been performing for more than 50 years, its numbers swelling and diminishing as singers and musicians come and go, which is the nature of Dubai’s expatriate community. However, we have managed to maintain a varied programme of classical music works throughout the years to keep singers interested and to keep attracting appreciative audiences.

“We are delighted to present the glorious Handel’s Messiah. The members of Dubai Singers have put in a lot of work rehearsing the pieces with a very professional orchestra, under the guidance of Jennie Lee-Foster, and I’m confident the UAE’s music-lovers will enjoy a fantastic performance!”

Tickets, from AED100 to 250, are available now on PlatinumList.

About Dubai Singers & Orchestra
Dubai & Sharjah Singers was launched in 1968 when a small group first met in a villa, after which it grew to be the major choir in Dubai, performing well-known pieces in the classical and popular music repertoire, including operettas, mostly by Gilbert & Sullivan.
Originally presenting concerts in the British Council auditorium, and now in various venues in Dubai, they are accompanied by an orchestra made up of locally based professional musicians.
Now known as Dubai Singers & Orchestra, the group performs concerts three times a year, as well as a traditional Christmas Carol concert at Christ Church Jebel Ali. Dubai Singers is a community choir, aiming to attract singers of all abilities, and it enjoys a loyal following of music-lovers from across the emirates.
